This is good news for the many swimmers who practice every day to hone their technique, take care of their diet, and make sure they are well prepared in order to achieve good results in important races!
A team from the Hartpury University Centre in the UK conducted a three-month study on the effects of music on performance on several athletes, including British swimmer Ben Hooper, and found that certain genres of music have an exceptionally strong effect on improving performance.
In addition to the usual mentality, everyone pays attention to their conditioning on the day of the race. Among them, everyone has their own preference for the playlist to boost their mentality before the race, and it is common to see swimmers worshipping and listening to "this one song that suits me!"
Because the outcome of a match can be decided by 1/100th of a second, we want to support them mentally as well, using the results of all their practice!
The research team will statistically analyze changes in the athletes' performance and their own sensations after listening to different music genres before races and during their daily practice.
the result…
The song that showed the greatest effect (improved performance) was:
1. Songs including "Lose Yourself" and "Without Me" by Eminem
Eminem's slightly aggressive, edgy rap tone was perfect for motivating the athletes, and it resulted in clear improvements in both power and stamina, not just during races but also during tough training sets.
It also appears that the effect on the players' mental wellbeing is that they feel less tired than usual.
The statistics show that Eminem's songs can improve performance by an astonishing 10%.
You have to add this to your playlist and listen to it right now!! lol
Other,,,
2. Songs by Swedish House Mafia and The Script were also found to be effective.
On the other hand, genres that ended up with unfavorable results were:
3. It turns out that reggae music, such as Bob Marly's, has a negative effect on the racing scene. (Maybe this isn't such a surprising result...?!)
It may not be such an unorthodox idea to use these research results as a tool to help motivate yourself during your regular training and races.
