You can do it right now! This week's drill: Breaststroke sculling to improve your grip on the water
Share
This week we will be doing breaststroke drills, which many people find difficult.
This time we will practice developing an angle that will increase the ability to catch water with forward sculling.
<How to do forward sculling>
1. First, put on your snorkel so you can concentrate on your movements underwater.
2. Raise your arms so that your shoulders and elbows are at the same height, and naturally lower your gaze. Use only your elbows to get into the sculling movement.
3. Once you become accustomed to the movement, adjust the speed and perform both outward and inward movements with your palms.
<One more tip>
Always keep your elbows at shoulder level and make sure your sculling is a side to side movement (think car windshield wipers!).
Also, by seeing these points with your own eyes, you will be able to recognize the angle and tempo that suits you.
If your lower body starts to drop while sculling, try doing small dolphin kicks to regain your balance or use a pull buoy to provide buoyancy.
