What you can do during the off-season! ~Building the foundation of a swimmer's diet~
Share

The National Sports Festival is over, and the summer match schedule is almost complete.
The relief is fleeting, as training season is just around the corner!
For the athletes, this is the time of year when they devote themselves to training without a break, including swimming practice and year-end training camps.
I'm sure that next season's success will depend on this year's training! I feel a bit of pressure when I think about it. With the swimming season coming up, I'm sure there are many swimmers who feel a little conflicted.
However, since it is the off-season, it is also a season in which you can do things that you normally wouldn't be able to do.
While practicing your swimming, you should also check your form. There are also some issues you should be learning about, such as reviewing your lifestyle, especially when you're not under the pressure of a competition.
This time, I would like to introduce a column about one of these challenges: the diet of junior athletes.
This column series, titled "Diet and Body Building for Swimmers," is written by certified sports nutritionist Sachiko Matsuda of Total Wellness Consulting .
The series currently consists of 19 installments and is based on what the author noticed while attending competitions to provide dietary support to swimmers.
Among the topics that have received particular attention are " key points for dietary intake for junior athletes " and " the importance of parents' understanding of the sport of swimming itself ."
For junior athletes, meals are basically what they are given, so there are some aspects of it that are hard to control, right? Daily meals are truly self-management in themselves.
I thought that the importance of parents' correct understanding and cooperation was a very good and convincing point.
At this time when you're not busy with games, re-examining the dietary habits that you've always found to be somehow good may provide hints that will lead to improved performance next season.
Please take a look at this column.
